Final Year Students Returned To School For Voter Registration Not For Examination – NDC

The issue of registering the finally year students who returned to school for their final year examination has generate a lot of comment from the direct opposition party, National Democratic Congress( NDC) and some Ghanaians.

A new development form the camp of such issue has it that, The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has alleged that the return of final year Senior High School (SHS) students to school was part of an “illegal” scheme to assemble the students for voter registration and not for their final year examination as said by the president of the Republic Of Ghana, He Excellency Nan’s Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The NDC’s Director of Elections, Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah at a press briefing in Accra contended that the decision also contravenes the law which mandates the Electoral Commission to gazette a designated polling centre for 21 days.

The Communications officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi has added his voice to the claims of Mr Elvis Afriyie at the ongoing NDC weekly Press Briefing.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, The NDC demand an immediate closure of all reopened schools which he claim was reopened to make room for the Electoral Commission(EC) to register the SHS students on their school campuses.

Sammy Gyamfi added that per report from the Ghanaians Times News paper, 10 more senior high schools cases of covid-19.

Continuing his speech, Sammy Gyamfi hit on the fact that counties such as, Nigeria and Kanya have decided to close schools until 2021 because of the spread of the deadly virus.

He further stated that the NDC urge Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to prioritize human lives and the lives of the innocent senior high school students over electoral fancies.
