Legendary highlife musician, J.A Adofo has said that the current crop of musicians especially Shatta Wale can’t be taken for a ride like it happened in their era where they were cheated in the industry.
It will be recalled that, Shatta Wale led a crusade against Charterhouse who are the organisers of Ghana Music Awards when he returned from his hibernation in 2014. His fight yielded results as Nigerian music dominated the airwaves at the time but for his timely intervention, Ghanaian music is doing better than before.
In an interview with Accra based radio station Angel FM, Adofo told the host of the mid-morning show host, DJ Ohemaa Woyeje that every song is good because someone’s favourite differs from another so he can’t single out the best among the current young artistes.
However, he was quick to admit that these young musicians can’t be taken for a ride, singling out Shatta Wale for his bravery to speak truth to power. He opined that he could have prevented event organisers and industry players from cheating them in their days.
It is no secret that most veteran musicians have complained bitterly about how they were treated in their prime days pointing accusing fingers at event organisers and industry players for not paying exactly what is due them.
