Following the chaos in Nigeria after a peaceful protest went wrong as force was reportedly used against the protestors leading to loss of lives, a number of videos and photos capturing incidents are being distributed on social and main stream media across the world.
Due to the rate at with those videos and photos are fast trending online, the Media houses in Nigeria have been cautioned against the publication of those photos and videos that capture the violence ongoing in the country.
According to the Nigerian National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), such publications are likely to embarrass the Nigerian government, individuals, institutions and the country in general. Hence, the need to desist from the publication.
Several reports have said protestors had been killed in Lagos on Tuesday night, scaling up not just the disaffection against the Nigeria government but the silence of Ghana’s president who is also president of the West Africa sub regional body ECOWAS.
