News that came in yesterday indicated that Ghana’s former president and husband of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings had passed on.
Jerry John Rawlings, popularly known as Papa J is said to have died in the early hours of Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana.
John Mahama arrived today in Accra from the Ashanti region, halting his campaign after knowing of the demise of the former leader of the party.
He quickly chaired a meeting of the Political Committee of the NDC and in signing out, wrote a heartfelt message for the former leader.
John Mahama penning his signature in a book of condolence at the headquarters of the NDC today and on social media wrote:
“Boss, it is difficult to come to terms with your shocking exit. But you’ve always been unconventional and acted on your own terms”.
“The rest of us your comrades are left to mourn you. But beyond mourning your departure, we have a duty and responsibility to ensure that your person and your principles receive their deserved place in the history of Ghana”.
“Leader of the Revolution, Founder of the 4th Republic and Midwife of the longest period of democratic governance in history and nobody can take that away”.
“Fare thee well, boss”, he ended.
