On 11 January 2018, Martin A.B.K Amidu was named by the fifth President of the fourth Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo as the Special Prosecutor for the newly created Office of the Special Prosecutor.
It was Hon. Martin A. B. K. Amidu’s duty to PREVENT, INVESTIGATE, and PROSECUTE corruption in the county. However after two years in office, Mr Martin Amidu decided to resign prematurely on 17th of November, 2020 and this got the whole nation ‘shacking’.
During his stay in the office as a special prosecutor, Hon. Martin Amidu was investigating on the Airbus scandal and Agyapa deal but the unfortunate part is, he was unable to officially bring corrupt people to light to prosecute them.
As we speak the newly created Office of the special prosecutor is empty and the question on many mouth is who is going to replace Martin Amidu as he has premature resignation.
Kwame Asare Obeng, nickname A Plus has been a Ghanaian citizen many are debating on whether he qualifies to take up the special state prosecutor possible since he is alway ‘fighting’ against corruption in the county.
The Ghanaian Hiplife rapper and singer popularly known for his political for some time now have been hitting hard on corrupt leaders and as a result many were of the view that he could be in the best position to fight corruption in the county in given the chance to be the State’s special prosecutor.
However, Kwame A Plus isn’t a lawyer!
