Award-winning investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure has descended on former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings for clapping during the funeral of her late husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings.
According to the renowned journalist, it is ‘pure witchcraft’ for Nana Konadu to clap during her husband’s funeral because widows are not to behave like persons with husband during funeral ceremonies organized for their late partners.
Mrs. Konadu Agyeman Rawlings was spotting clapping during the funeral of her husband when President Akufo-Addo made known that the University for Development Studies(UDS) should be renamed after the late J.J Rawlings.
Manasseh Azure reacting to it in an interview said, “You don’t need to be an Akan to know that there’s everything wrong with that. Widows are double amputees so it’s pure witchcraft when they clap. It’s impossible to clap without hands so if this widow claps, we should be concerned.”
The President reading his tribute during the State Burial Service of the late Jerry John Rawlings said the University for Development Studies(UDS) should be renamed Jerry John Rawlings University of Development Studies despite admitting the former President’s rejection of the idea of naming national edifices after him, he strongly believes he deserves the honor.
“He respectfully declined the honor and offer because of his principle not to have national monuments and facilities named after him.”
“Notwithstanding these sentiments and with all due respect to him, it is my strong belief that such an honor should be accorded him,” he said.
