This month March happens to be the worse month ever as no day will go by without sad news hitting us. Car accidents, Democratic Violence, Suicides, just to mention few is what we keep hearing on the news and it is taking lives of many as well.
Domestic Violence is however become a normal thing lately as in a space of 29 days in this month, we’ve head about 10 death as a result of Domestic Violence in both marriages and relationships and it high time we take a good look into it.
Women who are suffering from such instance keep amusing us as they sometimes cover up for their partners when they are been questioned on the incident. Some regardless the maltreatment still stay with the their partners all in the name of love until they finally lose their lives.
Such instance has happened in the Capital of the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Kumasi as a married woman have been beaten by her husband for not being able to prepare Fufu and light soup with just 12 Ghana cedis.
According to report, the lady Identified as Joyce for some time now have been suffering from abusive marriage but she kept mute and stayed in the marriage on the grounds that, she can’t take care of her children if she should divorce her husband.
However on the said that, Joyce’s husband who is said to be poor and a drunkard gave her 12 Ghana cedis to prepare fufu and light soup with it while he left to have some alcohol. Joyce who knew the money can’t prepare fufu and light soup decided to prepare oil rice a.k.a ‘angwamo’ and pepper only to receive serious beatings at the end.
Joyce who felt the need to visit the hospital following how serious the beatings were decided to visit the Menhyia Hospital where the case was later reported to the police.
According to report, Joyce was initially covering up for her husband when she was asked by the health workers how it all happened. Joyce However lied that, she had fell on the floor leaving her with those marks but the health workers didn’t believe her as they reported the. case to the police.
Joyce after treatment was invited by the police for further interrogation and she however revealed how she has been suffering from abusive marriage and how she got beaten for not being able to prepare fufu and light soup with just 12 Ghana cedis.
The husband as we speak is in police custody as investigation is still ongoing.
