Sarkodie — the most decorated African rapper — made history by becoming the first artiste in the world to win the first and newly created 2019 BET International Flow award.
The iconic rapper is also the first Ghanaian artiste to win a BET Award for the “Best International Act – Africa category in 2012. He was once again nominated in the same category at the 2014 BET Awards.
Sarkodie is regarded as the Greatest African Rapper Of All Time in some quarters based on the several awards he has amassed both locally and internationally in his career.
Considered as one of the major proponents of the Azonto dance genre, Sarkodie currently has over 90 international and local awards sitting in his closet.
He However didn’t get them from a silver platter, he started from no where but with determination and much effort he’s now the Sarkodie we known now.
He was from a poor family and had to go extra mile to achieve what he has now as old photos of him proves that. He started his rap career in the ghettos of tema, Where he grew up.
The likes of Sarkodie, Yaa Pono, Dr Cryme, Criss Waddle, Pope Skinny etc were once underground rappers which they had their limelight through Adom FM “Kasakari Level” which was then hosted by Dr. Duncan.
Having said that, an old photo of Sarkodie addressed as ‘Co’ has been the talk of town as many are of the view that, with hard work and determination one can equally achieve what he or she wants to be in some few years to come.
